Updating my Resume into Google Docs

I completed the assignment of publishing my resume onto Google Docs on the date it was due in January. The link to my resume is at this link.

For some reason this assignment just got saved as a draft when I created the blog post. I am lucky in that I found it in doing quality control on my blog at the end of the semester.

Photostory

I have completed the Photostory assignment but I can't find a way to convert it out of the file format. I posted my work to my google docs and it can be downloaded to be viewed at this link.

Photostory is a new format for me to communicate to students.

BenderConverter

I read through the uses of the BenderConverter.com site and used it to convert my lecture on the War of 1812 from a .wav file to a mp3 file type. This greatly reduced the size of the file and will allow me to transfer it around the web easier as a result. I loaded it onto google docs at this link.

This assignment best shows the third ISTE NETS standard. Specifically, section C that states that teachers communicate relevant information and ideas effectively to students, parents, and peers using a variety of digital-age media and formats. The ability to change formats of files aids a teacher greatly.

Jing Screencast

I used a small lesson on how to remove cookies from an internet browser for my Jing Screencast. It is at this link.

I looked at YouTube videos and I want to use one that shows how to use a software product. I used the Prezi tool to show a video about Prezi. I am not sure if it saves the video on the Prezi creation tools or not. It is embed below:

VoiceThread

I was able to make a post onto the class Voice Thread introduction post. I had to make a brief online of what I was going to say, but after that it was not that hard to leave a quality response. I had to learn the audio recorder settings to get it right also.

Podcast post

I developed a podcast to review the history of the War of 1812. It reaches its bicentennial next year so there is some relevance to making a lecture on it. I have audacity downloaded and created a draft of my script here.

I loaded it onto google docs and the podcast can be found here. I couldn't get my internal microphone to record my intro song well at all. It was the finale to the 1812 overture.

I had difficulty in completing this assignment on time because my trial version of MS Office expired early in March. I was able to complete the assignment on my mother's netbook on a visit to my parents' house.

Personality Profile 2

I completed the survey and I was way off on my guess. I scored highest as an artisan. I can see the results in the report, however. I tend to lead with an open ear to others ideas and I think this had a large impact on my score.

Personality Profile 1

I have taken personality tests in the past as part of other courses. They are a good gauge at a person's strengths and weaknesses.
I would guess that I would be in the order of rational, guardian, idealist, and artisan in that order based upon reading their descriptions. I am a pretty level headed guy so I think that would be the determining factor.

APA paper

I was unable to complete this APA paper at the time that it was due and did not have it completed by the time that it was graded at mid-term. I experienced an internet outage at my appartment building in the first few weeks of March that had me scrambling to catch up on material in all of my classes. It didn't help that the service workers kept giving me estimated times that they couldn't keep. I would have gone to my parents house that is only an hour away if they had told me it would be repaired after 5 working days instead of the 2 day estimate.

I was unable to complete this spreadsheet at the time that it was due. The links to the data for it were removed when I tried to catch up from an internet outage at my appartment building.

I created a graphic that shows the Diigolet toolbar in my browser. I used an arrow and text box to show the program title, I highlighted the "Highlight" option, and I drew a box around the "Comment" option. With this graphic I can explain the use of the Diigo program to someone who is not familiar with its use.

I do not have that much talent in terms of portrait art so I tried the majority of the selections on the site to find a combination that suited me. I also had to enlarge and rotate many of the options. I settled for something conservative because that is how I present myself.

Snipping Tool Assignment

I am using this assignment to show the need to keep your files in a central location in case they need to be retrieved easily. As I completed the first round of assignments from my classes this semester, I realized that I was saving papers in a variety of locations based upon defaults in text editors. I right clicked the location I wanted the papers to be saved, clicked on "new folder", and began to move all my files into this folder. By staying proactive on file location, I won't have trouble in the future of many files in many locations.

This map shows the variety of home addresses of my classmates for Education 6305. It is amazing to see the distances that some of the other students have from the main campus of Fairmont State. Only with the technology of the last few years could such distances from campus be supported. My enrollment in this class supports that the class is made of 21st century educators. The 2 blogs that I selected are Free Technology for Teachers and the Innovative Educator. I learned about a new Wiki called Qwiki from Free Technology for Teachers and read an article addressing different reading levels for students from the Innovative Educator. Experiences with Web Browsers

I am old to have used all of the popular web browsers from the Browser Wars article so I understand the material well. Browser add-ons are added software onto web browsers to have quick links to common functions used in web surfing. I have used a Google add-on in the past and it was helpful in doing quick searches on the web. I am currently only using the Diigolet add-on. I did not have any trouble installing it, but I had to do some searching on Blogger to get my page to link on my Blog.

I believe that Diigo supports the third ISTE NETS T standard the most The core of the standard is for teachers to show proficiency in using technology to support education. By using the most recently developed software to distribute information, a teacher can follow this standard.

Locus of Control Survey Assignment

I completed the Locus of Control Survey Assignment and scored a 21. The results of this score are that I am judged to have a very strong internal locus of control. I agree with findings as I am a bit older of a student at 34 and I believe that with the additional experiences of age come a deeper understanding of the role that one plays in deciding one's future.
